Your first visit, step by step

Most people start with a free call with Dr. Dody. If you decide to come in, here’s exactly what your first visit includes, and how your second visit, the report of findings, works.

Do I need to start with the free call?

You don’t have to, but most people do. The free call with Dr. Dody is a conversation about what’s going on and whether the practice is a good fit, before you commit to anything.

He’ll listen, explain how the practice works and what the first visit involves, and answer your questions, including about cost. If he doesn’t think the practice is the right fit, he’ll tell you. The call is free and there’s no obligation. If you’d like, the team can schedule your new-patient visit during the call.

What is included in the new patient visit?

Four things, in one comprehensive first visit. Whether you’re coming for chiropractic, neurofeedback or both, this is where everyone starts:

  • A qEEG brain map
  • Three CLA INSiGHT nerve scans
  • A full neurological and chiropractic exam
  • Your first gentle KST chiropractic adjustment

There’s no choosing a lane before you know what you need. Dr. Dody looks at the whole picture first, then, at your second visit (the report of findings), reviews your results and explains what he thinks makes sense.

Your first two visits

What happens, step by step

  1. Step 1: qEEG brain map

A 20-channel cap reads electrical activity across the surface of your brain. Your patterns are compared with an age-matched database. It only reads activity; nothing is sent into the brain.

  2. Step 2: Nerve scans

Three CLA INSiGHT scans look at nervous system stress, muscle tension and autonomic function.

  3. Step 3: Exam and adjustment

A full neurological and chiropractic exam, then your first gentle KST adjustment: no cracking, no twisting.

  4. Step 4: Second visit: report of findings

Dr. Dody reviews your results in plain language and discusses his recommendations, including what they cost. You can choose and begin a care plan if you’d like.

A brain map is an assessment, not a diagnosis. It doesn’t diagnose ADHD, anxiety, depression or anything else; only a licensed clinician can do that. It gives Dr. Dody and you a measurement to work from instead of a guess.

How much is the first visit?

The new patient visit is $225, and it’s the same for everyone.

That covers your nerve scans, brain map, examination and first chiropractic adjustment. Dr. Dody publishes the price up front so you know it before you walk in. The free call costs nothing.

What happens after the first visit?

Your second visit is your report of findings. Dr. Dody reviews your results, discusses his recommendations and what they cost, and gives you the opportunity to choose and begin a care plan if you’d like.

Some people go on to chiropractic care, some to neurofeedback, some to both, and some decide not to continue. If your results suggest the answer lies elsewhere, he’ll tell you that too. The choice is yours, and you can take time to think it over. Individual results vary, and we don’t promise outcomes.

How do I pay? Do you take insurance?

Dody Chiropractic is a direct-pay practice, so you pay us directly and we’re not in-network with insurance plans. HSA and FSA cards are welcome.

Chiropractic care: we can provide a superbill. That’s an itemized receipt with the codes insurers ask for, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Whether you’re reimbursed, and how much, depends on your plan, so it’s worth checking your out-of-network benefits with your insurer.

Neurofeedback: insurance generally doesn’t cover neurofeedback, and there isn’t an insurance network for it, so plan on paying for it directly. If you have questions about Medicare or Medicaid, call the office and a member of the team will talk it through with you.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Wear comfortable clothes, and bring a list of any medications you take and any reports you already have.

  • Comfortable clothes you can move in
  • A list of your current medications and supplements, to share with Dr. Dody
  • Any earlier reports, imaging or school or provider notes you’d like him to see
  • Your questions, written down so nothing gets missed

Can my child have a first visit?

Yes. Chiropractic care is available for children of all ages, including infants, and neurofeedback is generally offered from age 5. A parent stays with their child throughout.

You’ll be there for every part of the visit, and Dr. Dody goes over the findings with you at the report of findings. Parents are part of every decision. How we work with children and teens.

Questions new patients ask

Can I book the first visit without the free call?
Yes. If you already know you’d like to come in, book your New Patient Visit online, or call or text (303) 794-1737 and the office will book it for you. Most people find the free call useful first, because it answers their questions before they commit to anything.
Is the brain map a diagnosis?
No. A qEEG brain map is an assessment, not a diagnosis. It measures patterns of brain activity and compares them with an age-matched database. It does not diagnose ADHD, anxiety, depression or anything else; only a licensed clinician can do that. How brain mapping works.
Does the adjustment hurt?
Most people find it gentle. Dr. Dody uses the Koren Specific Technique (KST), an instrument-based method with no cracking and no twisting. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell him and he’ll adjust. More about chiropractic care.
I’m only interested in neurofeedback. Do I still need the full first visit?
Yes. Every new patient has the same first visit, whether they come for chiropractic, neurofeedback or both. It gives Dr. Dody the whole picture before he suggests anything. About neurofeedback.
Should I keep taking my medication?
Yes, unless your own doctor tells you otherwise. Decisions about medication belong to you and your prescribing doctor. Please bring a list of what you take so Dr. Dody has the full picture.
Where is the office, and how do I get there?
The office is at 7325 S Pierce St, Ste 102, Littleton, CO 80128. Map and directions.
