Back pain, neck pain and sciatica
Gentle, instrument-based chiropractic for back pain, neck pain and sciatica, with no cracking or twisting, and a measured look at the nervous system before anything else.

What can back pain, neck pain and sciatica look like?
People come to us with a stiff, sore lower back, a neck that won’t turn fully, tension that settles between the shoulder blades, or pain that travels from the lower back into the buttock and down a leg, which is often called sciatica.
For some it started with a specific moment: lifting, a fall, a game, a car accident. For others it built up slowly from desk work, driving, screens or poor sleep. Some also notice headaches that seem to start in the neck. These are patterns, not a diagnosis, and they can have more than one cause.
When does back or neck pain need medical care first?
Get emergency care (call 911 or go to an emergency room) for back or neck pain that comes with loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, sudden or worsening weakness in a leg or arm, chest pain, or follows a major fall or accident.
See your doctor first if back pain comes with fever, unexplained weight loss, a history of cancer, or pain that is severe at night and doesn’t ease with rest. Dody Chiropractic is not an emergency or urgent-care service.
Can a chiropractor help with back pain?
For many kinds of everyday back and neck pain, chiropractic care can be a reasonable thing to try. Whether it’s a good fit for you is something Dr. Dody decides after your exam, and he’ll tell you honestly if he thinks you need something else.
Dr. Dody’s view is that the brain and the spine aren’t separate systems; they’re one nervous system. So rather than only chasing the sore spot, he looks at how the spine, muscles and nervous system are working together. Depending on what he finds, care may include gentle KST adjustments, intersegmental traction (which he’ll explain at your visit) and progress scans to check how things are changing.
What if I don’t want my neck cracked?
You don’t have to. Dr. Dody uses Koren Specific Technique (KST), which relies on a small handheld instrument instead of manual force, so there’s no cracking, popping or twisting.
He also holds ArthroStim instrument certification. If you’ve avoided chiropractic because you didn’t want your neck manipulated, KST may feel quite different from what you expect. More about gentle chiropractic care.
How does Dr. Dody look at back and neck pain?
By measuring first. Your first visit includes a full neurological and chiropractic exam, three CLA INSiGHT nerve scans and a 20-channel qEEG brain map.
The nerve scans look at nervous system stress and muscle tension along the spine. The brain map adds a picture of how the nervous system as a whole is working, compared with an age-matched reference database. Dr. Dody reviews every result himself and explains it in plain language.
A brain map is an assessment, not a diagnosis. Neither the map nor the scans diagnose a condition; they help Dr. Dody decide what may be worth exploring.

Can chiropractic help sciatica?
It may, for some people. Sciatica describes pain along the path of the sciatic nerve, and it has several possible causes, so the first step is a careful exam to see whether chiropractic care is a sensible option.
If it is, Dr. Dody uses the same gentle, instrument-based approach, with no twisting of the lower back. If your exam suggests the nerve needs a medical evaluation or imaging, he’ll tell you and point you to the right provider.
How soon after an injury can I come in?
For everyday strains, you can book a free call whenever you’re ready. After a significant fall, car accident or any injury with warning signs, get medically checked first.
On the free call with Dr. Dody, he’ll ask what happened and what care you’ve had so far, and he’ll tell you plainly whether he thinks a first visit makes sense now. If you’re working with a physician or physical therapist, our care can sit alongside theirs. And if you take medication for pain, decisions about medication belong to you and your prescribing doctor.
Do you see sports injuries?
Yes. Sports injuries, from a strained back to a sore neck or shoulder, are among the concerns people bring to Dody Chiropractic.
It’s personal for Dr. Dody: a sports injury of his own is what first led him to chiropractic. For young athletes, a medical provider should check any significant injury first, and return-to-play decisions stay with their medical team.
