QEEG Brain Mapping in Littleton, CO

A QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) brain map is a non-invasive assessment that measures electrical activity across 20 sites on your brain. It reveals exactly where your brain is overactive, underactive, or out of sync, giving us the data-driven roadmap for your personalized care.

What is a QEEG Brain Map?

A QEEG is sometimes called a brain map because it creates a detailed topographic picture of your brain’s electrical activity. Using a fitted cap with 20 sensors, we record brainwave patterns across your entire cortex and compare them against a normative database of thousands of healthy brains.

The result is a color-coded map showing exactly how your brain compares to normal function at every location and frequency. Areas of excess activity show up in one color, areas of deficient activity in another, and areas of poor connectivity between brain regions are highlighted. This gives Dr. Dody an objective, visual picture of what is happening in your brain.

Unlike MRI or CT scans, which show brain structure, a QEEG shows brain function. You can have a structurally normal brain that is functionally dysregulated. The QEEG reveals these functional patterns that are driving your symptoms, whether that is ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, migraines, or cognitive decline.

What to Expect During Your Brain Map

The process is simple, painless, and takes about 30 minutes. A fitted cap with 20 sensors is placed on your head. A small amount of conductive gel ensures good signal quality. You sit quietly with your eyes closed for several minutes, then with eyes open, while the system records your brain’s electrical activity.

There is no radiation, no injection, no magnetic field, and no discomfort. The sensors only read your brain’s natural electrical activity; they do not send any signals into your brain. Children as young as five can comfortably complete a brain map.

Your data is then processed through a sophisticated analysis system and compared against the normative database. Dr. Dody reviews the results with you in detail, explaining what each pattern means and how it connects to your symptoms. You will receive a comprehensive report including your brain maps, analysis, and personalized care recommendations.

Brain mapping is included in our $225 New Patient Special along with CLA INSiGHT nerve scans, chiropractic exam, and your first adjustment. This means you get both brain diagnostics and nervous system assessment in a single visit, a combination that is unique to our Littleton practice.

Why Brain Mapping Matters

Without a brain map, neurofeedback is guesswork. Generic protocols target common patterns, but every brain is unique. Your specific combination of overactive and underactive regions, your connectivity patterns, and your dominant frequencies all need to be accounted for in your treatment plan.

The QEEG also provides a critical baseline for measuring progress. After a course of neurofeedback sessions, we repeat the brain map to objectively document the changes in your brain function. Many patients find it deeply motivating to see their brain normalizing on the follow-up map.

Brain mapping also serves as an important screening tool. Occasionally, QEEG findings suggest the need for further neurological evaluation. By catching these patterns early, we can refer you to the appropriate specialist if needed, providing an additional layer of safety and thoroughness that sets our practice apart.
