The Three-Step KST Process

KST uses a systematic three-step process that sets it apart from all other chiropractic techniques: Challenge, Check, and Correct.

In the Challenge step, Dr. Dody applies a gentle stimulus to a specific area of your body while you are in the position that causes your symptoms. This could be standing, sitting, bending, turning, or any posture of distress. Traditional chiropractic analyzes you lying face down on a table, which may miss issues that only appear in functional positions.

In the Check step, Dr. Dody uses a binary biofeedback method to determine whether the challenged area needs correction. This assessment is remarkably sensitive and can identify subluxations in the spine, cranium, TMJ, extremities, and even organs.

In the Correct step, the ArthroStim instrument delivers rapid, precisely targeted micro-impulses to the area identified. The ArthroStim produces 12 to 14 thrusts per second at a very low force, far gentler than a manual adjustment. There is no twisting, cracking, or popping whatsoever.

Dr. Dody's consultation area

“I’ve been going to Dody Chiropractic since at least 2012, and make the trip across town even though I live on the north side of the metro area. I greatly prefer the KST technique over everything else I’ve experienced elsewhere over my lifetime. The adjustment experience is gentle and targeted.”

Who Benefits from KST

KST is ideal for virtually everyone, but particularly benefits patients who prefer gentle care without cracking or twisting, infants and young children (the force used is extremely light), elderly patients including those with osteoporosis, pregnant women who cannot lie face down, post-surgical patients, patients with acute pain who cannot tolerate forceful manipulation, and patients who have not responded to traditional chiropractic.

Because KST addresses the entire structural system, not just the spine, it can also be effective for TMJ disorders, shoulder and extremity problems, cranial issues including post-concussion symptoms, and visceral (organ) dysfunction. The technique’s versatility is one of its greatest strengths.

“I first looked into Dody Chiropractic when I developed lower back pain. After my 3rd KST adjustment, the TMJ popping and clicking is essentially gone. I can eat on both sides of my mouth. I have regained hearing in my left ear. This is one of the best investments I have made.”

About the ArthroStim Instrument

The ArthroStim is a handheld instrument that produces a rapid series of gentle thrusts, 12 to 14 per second. These micro-impulses travel through the joints and tissues with enough force to trigger a neurological response and correct the subluxation, but with so little force that patients often describe the sensation as a gentle vibration or tapping.

The instrument allows Dr. Dody to direct the correction with extreme precision, targeting only the specific joint or tissue that needs attention. This specificity means less collateral tissue disturbance, faster recovery, and adjustments that hold longer compared to broad-force manual techniques.

Many patients who were previously nervous about chiropractic care find KST and the ArthroStim completely comfortable and even relaxing. The entire adjustment typically takes less than 10 minutes, and most patients feel immediate improvement.

“I didn’t understand how such a seemingly simple method could be effective, but by that time I had learned I could trust Dr. Dody’s judgment. My adjustment could be accomplished in less than 10 minutes. The treatment was effective.”
